In a city with a reputation for being eye-wateringly expensive, it can be hard to find a decent lower priced hotel. In fact one of the questions we get asked the most is do we know of good budget hotels in London, especially with the long awaited London Olympics not far away. Here is our list of our favourites, featuring only hotels that have room rates starting from under £100…
Church Street Hotel

Camberwell is an up and coming district of South London which is seeing an increase of trendy bars, cafes and fashionable shops. It’s in Camberwell where you’ll find this very unique London budget hotel. Full of character, the Church Street hotel offers bright Havana inspired decor and lovingly prepared organic breakfasts.

It’s actually a Victorian terraced house which has been very tastefully refurbished retaining many of the house’s original features – giving the place a very homely feel. Other nice hotel amenities include a dining room located in a large glass conservatory, a cosy communal lounge and rooftop terrace. Although the hotel location is not the most central – it’s based in the leafy residential area of Finchley – London city centre is only a short train ride away and at least you’d be ensured of plenty of peace and quiet.

But what’s the catch you may ask? The trade off is the location. It’s based in the pleasant London suburb of Hendon which is around 7 miles northwest of Charing Cross. It’s perhaps not as central as many would like, although with this decor and levels of comfort it seems a small price to pay.

Very good, these hotels are very good in general, but better than others, since the prices are low. Unfortunately, I am sure that the prices will rise and stay high even after the olympics, which is at my point of view very bad for travellers, Londoners and even the owners of the accommodation, it has done that in many cities around the world where the have had the olympics. Keep up the good work.

The Summer Olympics will take place in London in 2012 so it’s getting harder to find a lower priced hotel. Especially because London is not the cheapest place for overnight stay! This a very useful list thanks!
